Follow Action Order

Record Then Play

When and new clip is recorded with After Recording set to Play, the follow action order is:

When recording starts, the follow action order is:

  • Begin Record
  • Begin Initial Record

When recording ends, the triggered actions, in order, are:

  • Finish Record
  • Finish Initial Record
  • Play Clip

Record Then Overdub

When and new clip is recorded with After Recording set to Overdub, the follow action order is: When recording starts:

  • Begin Record
  • Begin Initial Record

When recording ends, loop playback and overdub start:

  • Finish Initial Record
  • Play Clip
  • Begin Record
  • Begin Overdub

When overdub ends, the clip is already playing. The triggered follow actions are:

  • Finish Record
  • Finish Overdub

Recording a clip when another clip is recording

If simultaneous recording is off, recording a clip will end the recording of any clip that is recording. The follow action order may be a little surprising. Let's say Clip A is recording and you start recording Clip B. The Begin Record/Begin Initial Record follow actions of Clip B are triggered before Clip A's Finish Record/Finish Initial Record.

If Clip A's finish record follow actions could possibly conflict with Clip B's begin record follow actions, you should slightly delay the actions so that they happen after the clip A's actions.
